Midnight Sky by Jan Ruth

How can we harness the future if the past will not set us free? An emotive story of love, loss and letting go.
Opposites attract? Laura Brown, interior designer and James Morgan-Jones, horse whisperer - and Midnight Sky, a beautiful but damaged steeplechaser.
Laura seems to have it all, glamorous job, charming boyfriend. Her sister, Maggie, struggles with money, difficult children and an unresponsive husband. She envies her sister's life, but are things as idyllic as they seem?
She might be a farmer's daughter but Laura is doing her best to deny her roots, even deny her true feelings. Until she meets James, but James is very married, and very much in love, to a wife who died two years ago. They both have issues to face from their past, but will it bring them together, or push them apart?

Midnight Sky was a very compelling book to read. I was caught within the first few pages. This is the first book I've read by Jan and I look forward to reading more of her work. The plot draws the reader along making want to see what's going to happen next! The character personalities and development makes them seem so real. I hated for the book to end.
It's a great read!

The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks

Julie Barenson's young husband left her two unexpected gifts before he died - a Great Dane puppy named Singer and the promise that he would always be watching over her. Now four years have passed. Still living in the small town of Swansboro, North Carolina, twenty-nine-year-old Julie is emotionally ready to make a commitment to someone again. But who? Should it be Richard Franklin, the handsome, sophisticated engineer who treats her like a queen? Or Mike Harris, the down-to-earth nice guy who was her husband's best friend? Choosing one of them should bring her more happiness than she's had in years. Instead, Julie is soon fighting for her life in a nightmare spawned by a chilling deception and jealousy so poisonous that it has become a murderous desire...

I originally owned this book as a gift but it's been lost in a fire. You can purchase the paperback on Amazon for $10.98.

A compelling story of love and healing. I really enjoyed this book. The dog is a great addition to this story and he brings great changes to what co-characters are expected to be. The Hero and Heroine are so detailed and their development both as characters and in their relationship makes this book really worth reading.

The Rescue by Nicholas Sparks

When confronted by raging fires or deadly accidents, volunteer fireman Taylor McAden feels compelled to take terrifying risks to save lives. But there is one leap of faith Taylor can't bring himself to make: he can't fall in love. For all his adult years, Taylor has sought out women who need to be rescued, women he leaves as soon as their crisis is over and the relationship starts to become truly intimate. When a raging storm hits his small Southern town, single mother Denise Holton's car skids off the road. The young mom is with her four-year-old son Kyle, a boy with severe learning disabilities and for whom she has sacrificed everything. Taylor McAden finds her unconscious and bleeding, but does not find Kyle. When Denise wakes, the chilling truth becomes clear to both of them: Kyle is gone. During the search for Kyle, the connection between Taylor and Denise takes root. Taylor doesn't know that this rescue will be different from all the others.

My first Nicholas Sparks book and it made me second think male romance writers. I loved this book and couldn't put it down. It's plot drew the reader in and captured their attention. When I was done I wanted it to still go on, tell me more, tell me more. It's a beautiful story on love, loss and determination to prove one's self. A book you'll be going back to for years to come,

Desert Rose (Warrior Series) by Laura Taylor

“A firecracker of a book from Laura Taylor! In the beautifully written DESERT ROSE, a downed pilot imprisoned in the Middle East learns the true meaning of love when a lovely humanitarian relief worker is thrown into the next cell. Ms. Taylor brings more than one tear to the eye as she brilliantly depicts the very high price sometimes asked of individuals in the name of higher causes. But it is the joy of her lovers’ triumph over their adversity that will linger with you always.” ROMANTIC TIMES BOOK REVIEW

I found this book on a Free Run on Amazon. You can now purchase it for $2.99.

I reviewed it 4 out of 5 stars.
An Amazing read. I love the detail the author went into about the story plot. The details and description bring the book to life and makes the reader feel like they are really there. I really loved the book and the development of the characters, both in the relationship and as indiviuals. I think David gets a bit dumb towards the end but finds his brains again.
